It was a pleasure to meet with the lovely people from Sherborne Bowls Club who are a great team
and made us feel so welcome. It was a lovely afternoon and we set off around 5pm to find our
hotel on the seafront at Weymouth.
We arrived at the Norfolk Hotel around 6pm and dinner was to be served at 7pm, so it just gave us
time for quickly unpacking and freshening up, so that we could enjoy a lovely 3 course dinner
served in the dining room with a sea view.
The next day Saturday 20 th June after a hearty breakfast in the dining room, we had free time in the
morning to explore Weymouth town centre and its beautiful sandy beach just a stone’s throw from
the hotel.
Saturday’s match was being played at Greenhill Bowling Club located adjacent to the seafront at
Weymouth and the weather was supremely kind to us on the day.
The match was a friendly mixed triples played across six rinks. The match was played to18 ends.
Gordon Davies for Bicester captained the match, and the teams were up for enjoying a fun and
competitive match in a lovely location.
Despite Greenhill giving their best to the match, Bicester triumphed on the day with a massive
winning score of 108 shots to Sherborne’s 76 shots. Congratulations to Bicester on their victory,
and a big well done to all the players who gave their best on the green which was in good
condition.
Bicester’s highest scoring rink was led by Skip, Alan Wagner with No. 2 Julie Cooper and Barbara
Hawksley in the lead role.
On Sunday 21 st June, again after having a lovely breakfast, we had time to explore the seafront
and the shops at Weymouth before loading into the coach around midday for our final match which
was held at Bridport Bowls Club.
The match was a friendly mixed triples played across six rinks. The match was played to18 ends.

On Monday 22 nd June, we enjoyed our breakfast at the hotel before saying goodbye to Sunny
