BOWLS TASTER SESSIONS

April sees the start of the new season for outdoor bowls and we will be holding three taster sessions for the general public to join us for an opportunity to play lawn bowls on our beautiful green.  Dates and times are below.  We need as many of our members to attend the sessions as possible, to show our visitors what a pleasure it is to play the sport.

Friday 24 April 2026 @ 6pm - 8pm - Taster Session
Friday 1 May 2026 @ 6pm - 8pm - Taster Session
Tuesday 12 May 2026 @ 2pm - 4pm - Taster Session 
 
 

Presidents v Captains Match

Sunday 12th April 2026

Match Report

It was a cool Sunday afternoon for our first match on the green this season which was our Presidents versus Captains annual fixture.   We had hoped that the rain would hold off long enough to allow us to play the match however, the weather was not kind to us and after playing several ends the rain got so heavy that the match had to be abandoned, as the green was becoming too wet to play.

Only a few ends were played by the four teams in the triples match, however victory was declared by the Presidents Team on the curtailed play, the score being 21 to the presidents and 19 to the captains.  We all congregated back in the club house to dry off and enjoy a drink and a raffle prize draw.

The afternoon was still enjoyable despite the weather, and we look forward to playing again on Saturday for our next match against Winslow.

Thank you to those members who have already volunteered. We still require assistance for June, August and September. It would be really useful to have a full compliment for the year and would be helpful to have other members involved. During the closed season we are inside the club house to play short mat bowls and there are regular sessions held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1.45pm until 4pm and Friday evenings from 6pm.
 
Please do come along for an enjoyable couple of hours and a way of keeping in contact with other members during the closed season. We have a break in the middle of the session where we have a mug of tea/coffee and biscuits. There is a cost of £2.50 per short mat session on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
