BOWLS TASTER SESSION
April saw the start of the new season for outdoor bowls and we are holding our final taster session for the general public to join us for an opportunity to play lawn bowls on our beautiful green. Date and time are below. We need as many of our members to attend the sessions as possible, to show our visitors what a pleasure it is to play the sport.
Friendly Match Report – Saturday 2nd May 2026
Oxford University Press Bowls Club vs Bicester Bowls Club
On a lovely warm afternoon, we travelled into Oxford to Oxford University Press Bowls Club for a friendly mixed triples match played across five rinks. The match was played to 18 ends. Gordon Davies for Bicester captained the match, and the teams were eager to enjoy a fun and competitive match in the spirit of good sportsmanship.
Despite Oxford UP giving a good performance, Bicester Bowls Club triumphed on the day with a winning score of 95 shots to Oxford UP’s 65 shots. Congratulations to our players on their victory, and a big well done to all at the match who gave their best on the green which was in excellent condition.
Bicester’s highest scoring rink was led by Skip Richard Herbert with No. 2 Laurie Bryant and Bryony Groves in the lead role.
It was a pleasure to meet with our friends from Oxford University Press Bowls Club who are a very experienced team, and everyone is looking forward to playing them again later this year. Until then, it’s back to the greens for more practice and camaraderie!

Bicester Bowls Club vs Wendover Bowls Club
On a very sunny spring afternoon we welcomed Wendover Bowls Club for a friendly mixed triples match played across six rinks. The match was played to18 ends. Gordon Davies for Bicester captained the match, and the teams were eager to enjoy a fun and competitive match in the spirit of good sportsmanship.
Despite Bicester giving a good performance, Wendover Bowls Club triumphed on the day with a winning score of 84 shots to Bicester’s 65 shots. Congratulations to Wendover on their victory, and a big well done to all the players who gave their best on the green which was in beautiful condition.
Bicester’s highest scoring rink was led by Skip Jill Benn, with No. 2 Roger Wright and Charlie Evans in the lead role.

Bicester Bowls Club vs Banbury Borough Ladies
On a very sunny spring evening, we welcomed Banbury Borough Bowls Club Ladies Team for a friendly match played across three rinks, with one team playing triples and two teams played pairs. The evening was cool and we played just 14 ends. Irene Dymond for Bicester captained the match, and the teams were eager to enjoy a fun and competitive match in the spirit of good sportsmanship.
Despite Bicester’s best efforts, Banbury Borough Bowls Club Ladies Team triumphed on the evening with a fantastic winning score of 39 shots to Bicester’s 23 shots. Congratulations to Banbury Borough on their victory, and a big well done to all the players who gave their best on the green despite the coolness of the evening!
Bicester’s only winning rink was led by Skip Linda Bryant, with No. 2 Marie Roberts and Barbara Hawsley and Debbie Holloway sharing the lead role.
